About Mercedes-Benz E400

Belonging to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades and a wide range of body styles as Mercedes-Benz's long-running midsize vehicle, Mercedes-Benz E400 has been built by a German multinational automotive corporation Daimler AG, since 2013 as an executive car. Originally introduced as a model in the fourth-generation E-Class, E400 was then a hybrid version. Now, E400 is in its second generation.
The first-generation Mercedes-Benz E400 (W212/C207) was produced from 2013 to 2016 and debuted for the 2013 model year when the E-Class was in its fourth generation. It was then offered in several body styles, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupe, 2-door convertible and a hybrid version (discontinued for the 2016 model year) but it came in only one trim level. E400 was also available for the Premium package, Lighting package, Keyless Go package, Lane Tracking package, Driver Assistance package, Premium 2 package, and Sport package. During this generation, Mercedes-Benz E400 was powered by either a 3.5 L V6 along with a 7-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor that added 27 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 3.0 L V6 rated at 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque and power was sent through a 7-speed automatic transmission to rear wheels or four wheels. The current E400 was introduced at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in January for the 2017 model year. It comes in three body styles, 5-door wagon (W213), 2-door coupe (C238) and 2-door convertible (A238). Now, E400 is available for Sport and Luxury versions and it gets power from a 3.0 L turbocharged V6 producing 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque and this engine sends power through a 7-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or four wheels.

Mercedes-Benz E400 Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

As one of the most technologically advanced models on the road now, Mercedes-Benz E400 looks and feels expensive in every way. However, a wise E400 owner will know the importance of learning about how to diagnose and solve common problems on it as soon as possible:
First, for Mercedes-Benz E400 drivers, the last problem they want to meet during driving is the engine failure, which is often seen as the omen of the vehicle breaking down. The sooner you solve it, the safer your ride on the E400 will be. After a while of driving, the engine will inevitably wear and some minor issues will come for it. Normally, at first, it will give out some noises such as whining, squealing or rattling to attract your attention; if you ignore them, then you will soon notice the engine is suffering from some performance issues such as running roughly, misfiring, stalling, hard starting and even inability to start; before your vehicle gives up on you completely, it will experience a great reduction in power, acceleration and fuel economy. When the Check Engine Light is triggered, please inspect if the E400 fuel injector, spark plug, oxygen sensor, air filter, oil filter, engine control module, engine mount, valve cover gasket and timing belt tensioner are in the right order or not.
Second, another horrible problem common on Mercedes-Benz E400 is the suspension failure according to some professional repairmen. In fact, many E400 drivers at most know that this problem could bring an unsteady and unpleasant ride but they do not realize it is also often the culprit of fatal accidents. At first, there are only clunking or grinding noise coming from underneath the vehicle distracts your attention; then you will find the tire wear become excessive and uneven and the vehicle tends to tilt to one side; finally, you feel hard to control the vehicle due to intense car vibration, unintentional steering wheel, and roughly operated steering wheel. All these symptoms could be attributed to the E400 wheel bearing, shock absorber, sway bar bushing, control arm bushing, coil springs, air suspension and coil spring insulator.
For a pleasant ride on your Mercedes-Benz E400, maintaining E400 seat belt, windshield wiper, wiper blade, antenna, cabin air filter, fog light and headlight routinely is a must as they work hard to create a safe and comfortable driving environment under harsh working conditions.
